From Lizelle:
Our biggest inspiration for this styled shoot was the Anemone flower with its black centre, which was in bloom here in South Africa. We wanted to create a general fine art look with a timeless design. With the light coloured flowers in the floral design, the mismatched antique cutlery, and the off-white table linens, a good balance was created for the dark elements used.
We shot on location at the age old Rhodes Memorial, with its colossal pillars. The stone of the Memorial perfectly complimented the grey silk ribbons and the black plates used. The stationery with its black touches on off-white hand made paper completed the table step up and finished off the look perfectly. For the table, we had a particular look in mind. We wanted something antique of raw wood. One day before the shoot, I walked into an antique shop around the corner from where I live, and a table caught my eye. It was a damsel in distress, but the owner of shop said he will give the table new life and have it ready for me the next day. He kept his word and we now can share it to you!
