One of the occupational hazards of working at APW is you get to know the work of a lot of wedding photographers. And when you know all about these great photographers that people should be working with, you want nothing more than for your people to listen to that advice they asked for. (Nothing is worse than hearing after the wedding, “I’m disappointed with my wedding photos, and I wish I’d hired that person you suggested after all.” ‍♀️‍♀️) But that means nothing is BETTER than when people you love hire photographers who do truly amazing work. So when I found out a friend of mine hired Bay Area’s fantastic Manali Anne Photography, I was more than thrilled.

Why? Well other than the obvious answer of the pictures, Manali is a seasoned wedding pro and a lovely and warm human being, whose specialty is classically beautiful portraits and unfiltered natural candids (aka her photos will look as great on your wall in ten years as they do right now, with no trendy editing that’ll make you wonder what people in 2018 were thinking). Cue major excitement to get to see said wedding through such a talented set of eyeballs, plus, you know, relief, because we all want our friends to have nothing but the best for their wedding. And y’all, when my friend’s wedding photos were in, I was not disappointed. I mean, check it out:

My hilarious friends from college look fly AF and like they’re having a ridiculously good time. Scrolling through the photos felt like I was there under the twinkling string lights all the way from New York, and that’s exactly the feeling that Manali aims to capture:

I come from a fine art background, but didn’t turn to wedding photography until after my own wedding. Before then I would never have guessed what an emotional impact it would have on me to receive my own photos back, but now my priority is to give that feeling to my clients. I want them to feel that joy again as though they were right back in their wedding clothes, looking great and surrounded by family and friends. I often work with people with are a little or a lot shy in front of the camera, and my goals are always for my clients to feel like themselves and to capture all the things that make their story and their day unique. One bride recently asked me if I was a yoga teacher too because she felt like my presence was so calming and grounding!

So! If you want to hire the kind of wedding photographer we entrust our own friends to, Manali Anne Photography is based in the San Francisco Bay Area and is available anywhere in California without travel fees. Her most popular wedding packages fall between $4,000 and $5,000, and she also shoots city hall elopements (if you’re thinking about a San Francisco City Hall wedding, don’t miss her pro tips right here) with rates starting at $750. Plus! The first two couples who book will receive a free engagement session (a $600 value) or $300 off the package of their choice—just mention this post when you inquire. So get to getting, and reach out to Manali for more info on packages, availability on your date, and answers to all your questions.
